Edible Estates
Attack on the Front Lawn
by Fritz Haeg
This is a subversive little book about a very simple idea: turning your front lawn into your own farmstand. It documents the Edible Estates Project initiated by architect, artist and horticultural provocateur Fritz Haeg with his own account of this food-producing experiment and first hand reports written by the gardeners who put into practice what Mr. Haeg so eloquently preaches. (One was created in nearby Maplewood, New Jersey.) There are plans and photographs, a resource guide, and intriguing essays by Diana Balmori, Michael Pollan, Rosalind Creasy, and others that contribute to the author’s post cul-de-sac template.
