The folly has given Europe a superb legacy of idiosyncratic, often experimental garden architecture, ranging from the Baroque and Rococo through Art Nouveau to the present day. Built for pleasure and conceived with passion and self-indulgence, these wonderful buildings reflect and celebrate the individuals who created them.

Photographer Nic Barlow has traveled across 10 European countries to discover and document a remarkable collection of architectural extravaganzas, some for the first time. On display in the pages of this glorious book are follies that are a testament to imagination and eccentricity.
