Vincent Simeone, the director of Planting Fields Arboretum on Long Island, presents the best evergreens for landscaping purposes in this compact and informative new book. Covering conifers, broadleaf evergreens, and deciduous and semi-evergreen shrubs, Simeone discusses how evergreens can be used to best effect in the landscape to give gardens structure and interest throughout the year. He recommends evergreens for color and winter interest; as borders, hedges, and living fences; and as screens to block unsightly views and to offer privacy.

Detailed entries for more than 80 species describe each evergreen’s size, shape, color, flower (if applicable), light and soil requirements, hardiness zones and uses in the landscape.
