A magnificent portrait of the flamboyant Magnolia campbellii from Illustrations of Himalayan Plants (1855), by Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, one of the most prominent British botanists of the 19th century and an authority on plants of the Himalayan region. This important botanical work is illustrated by Walter Hood Fitch (1817-1892), a master lithographer and botanical artist at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, who was renowned for his splendid, colorful depictions of exotic plants. This pigment print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 460 g/m stock faithfully reproduces the brilliant colors of the original.
