NYBG Coast of Coromandel Note Cards

The superb botanical illustrations of the yellow flower clusters of Brownlowia elata, an exotic member of the linden family, and the delicate white flowers of Dipterocarpus turbinatus on these enchanting note cards are from Plants of the Coast of Coromandel, a rare and beautiful early 19th-century work depicting plants found in southeastern India. Local Indian artists created the original illustrations of flowers, shrubs and trees, which were then engraved and hand colored in London, bringing images of an exotic world of plants to the West.
