NYBG Holiday Train Show

Since 1992, the Holiday Train Show has delighted and charmed millions of visitors to The New York Botanical Garden. Created by Paul Busse and his team of artists, the show consists of more than 140 New York Landmark buildings and bridges made of plant materials—leaves and pods, sticks and berries, roots and vines. They are set among holiday-decorated trees, shrubs, and flowers, with 14 wide-gauge electric trains steaming and tooting their way throughout.

The DVD takes us to rural Kentucky to join Paul and his talented team of artists as they collect their plant parts, then design and construct new additions to the show. Views of New York City’s real buildings mirror the make-believe as we rejoin Paul and the team installing the fairyland city to celebrate the holiday season. This is a wonderful way to re-experience—or discover for the first time—the magic of a show that has been called “one of New York City’s best gifts to itself.”
