Parkia (vol. 43) and Dimorphandra (vol. 44)
(Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) by Helen C. F. Hopkins (43)
(Caesalpiniaceae) by Marlene Freitas da Silva (44)
Parkia is monograph 43 in the Flora Neotropica series. Neotropical
Parkia was last revised in 1875 by George Bentham. The present study is based on 12 months of field work in Amazonian Brazil, which resulted in a considerable amount of general biological data. Information on reproductive biology, especially concerning the capitulum (previously misinterpreted in some species) has indicated innumerable features of taxonomic significance. This study was undertaken in the expectation that a better understanding of the taxonomy and reproductive biology of
Parkia might shed some light on the evolutionary significance of chiopterophily within the genus.
Dimorphandra is monograph 44 in the Flora Neotropica series.
