Frederick Boyle set out to bring the Belgium system of orchid growing to the attention of English gardeners, writing that when put into practice this new system “works wonders.” He describes the growing of cool orchids with the precision he himself had longed to find in treatises on orchids when he was a beginner. Today’s orchid enthusiasts will find this an intriguing and still relevant guide to the cultivation of an important group of orchids.
