NYBG Seeds Note Cards
Toward the end of the 19th century, new industrial processes had revolutionized the publishing and printing industries. Printing techniques allowed for faster, less expensive, and easier production of brightly colored images. Some nurseries developed their own printing establishments and hired lithographic artists to produce colorful images for catalog covers and horticultural prints.
The colorful images of flowers on these note cards are selections from vintage nursery catalogs in the Rare Book Collections of the Mertz Library here at the Garden.
