This guide to the remarkable flora of the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu aims to raise awareness of Vanuatu's plant diversity and the conservation issues facing it. The 236 plants included were selected for their outstanding or specific characters (e.g., large fruit, beautiful flowers, stinging foliage), significant properties (medicinal or ornamental use), or because they are commonly encountered. Some rarer and less commonly encountered species were included because of their vulnerability or endemism (found nowhere else but Vanuatu or surrounding areas). All species are illustrated with beautiful color drawings that allow for easy identification. The text accompanying the illustrations points to additional identification characters. The book is bilingual English/French and is co-published by The New York Botanical Garden Press and Biotope.
